The Rila Mountains
The Rila mountains start south of the city of Samokov, and is the next range south of Vitosha mountain. Rila is home to the famous Borovets ski resort, the most popular amongst the top three ski resorts in Bulgaria.

Borovets hopes to hold the skiing for the next winter olympics, and has been the site of much development interest over the last two years. Borovets itself is not a town or village, but a purpose built ski resort, therefore, until rrecently it has been impossible for the public to buy properties there.
